Sponsoring our students for the
Asian American Learning Travel Experience

Picture
Henry Nguyen (BME '19) and Lauren Vu (PSY '19) are both rising seniors at the University of Florida dedicated to making a difference in the Asian American community. As the newly elected co-presidents of the Asian American Student Union, Henry and Lauren have set ambitious goals for themselves and the community that include fostering stronger student voices on campus, ensuring continued dedicated resources for Asian American students at UF, and educating the UF community on the histories and experiences of Asian Americans in Florida. But they can't do it alone.

In order to gain more knowledge and experiences that will help them in their endeavor, they're visiting San Francisco--the birthplace of Asian American activism--to gain a stronger and wider perspective of the history of Asian America. They'll be visiting key historical landmarks such as Angel Island, Chinatown, and San Francisco State University. In addition, on their short 4-day trip, they'll also be attending the 36th annual Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) Film Festival, volunteering at the 2018 San Francisco Equality Awards, and spending time with UF alumni in the Bay Area.

We'd like to thank all of our Bronze Level Sponsoring Alumni who without them this trip would not be possible.
